Keziah Kersey, Freshman. Jake Buntjer/UVU REVIEW

Name: Keziah Kersey
Year: Freshman
Major: Creative Writing

Where were you born?
London, England
I was born and raised in England, where I lived until I was eleven. I then moved to Utah for six years before my whole family moved to France a year ago, where I spent the last year.

What is your family like?  How many siblings do you have?
6 siblings, all very upbeat and creative.

What was the coolest or most unique part of your childhood?
I have moved at least 10 times. (When asked for an explanation why, Keziah simply answered, “My family loves to move. There never was an explanation, other than we loved experiencing different places.”)

What are some of the places that you have experienced?
Places I have travelled to in the past year: Switzerland, Spain, France, England, Wales, Italy, Greece, Morocco, Canary Islands, Madeira, the Greek Island of Paros and Monaco.

What made you choose to come to UVU?
I wanted to move back to Utah, and it’s a good school.

What are some of the biggest cultural differences from where you grew up to where you are now?

The food!  I just came from France, where they don’t start eating dinner until 9 p.m. [The food here is] also extremely good.

What are your post-UVU plans?

Become an author and humanitarian. Travel the world.

Why do you get up in the morning, or what motivates you to do the things you do?
I tell myself that I’m going to contribute to this world someday.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Incense; I’ve been obsessed with it since age 5.

If you won a million dollars tomorrow, what would you do with it?
Go to Africa and help out. Oh, and buy a Chevy Volt. I still don’t have a car.

In your opinion, what is the most beautiful place on earth and why?
The island of Madeira. It’s similar to Hawaii, but it’s between Spain and Morocco.

Zombies or vampires?
Vamps. I would just gun zombies down.

What was the best part of your summer?
My family and I spent the summer travelling around Europe. It was simply because we could and wanted to experience the culture. [But my favorite was] snorkeling in Greece. I love wildlife and it was so amazing to explore this hidden world.
