The Woodbury Art Museum is currently displaying an exhibit titled “Art of OUR CENTURY”. The exhibit, which opened on June 11 and will continue to show until July 23, is a broad collection of diverse works of various media, including digital photography, sculpture, paint and even documented installation.
Deb Banerjee juried the show. Banerjee, the curator of exhibitions and programs at the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art at Utah State University, awarded Jessica McCoy’s oil on canvas painting, “Frenchies,” with the Purchase Award.
Other artists, including installation artist and BYU student Levi Jackson, psychotherapist-turned-painter Lee Cowan, art quilt maker Deborah K. Snider, and experiential painter Tawni Shuler were also awarded honorable mention awards.
According to the exhibit’s website, they aim to “[engage] the aesthetic dialogue of today and [reflect] contemporary visual imagery, ideas and experience.” It features artists from all over the West, including Idaho, Colorado, California and Utah. On July 15 at 6 p.m., the museum is holding a screening night, featuring a panel discussion with AoOC-exhibited artists, including new work from video artist Davey Hawkins.
The Woodbury Art Museum is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 s.m. to 5 p.m, or by appointment. The galley is located on the second floor of the University Mall, near the southeast entrance.
