Mormons sexposed?

November 19, 2007 Fomer Staff Writer 0

It’s one in the morning. You’re alone in your room surfing the web. You stumble upon a website showcasing attractive, clean-cut young men of the Mormon faith wearing the all-too-familiar uniform of white shirts, ties and black missionary name tags. There is an image of a map with red pins pointing out where each “elder” served and labored valiantly for two consecutive years. Messages of how the missionaries worked to promote Christian ideals and serve the poor and elderly flood the screen.

The Provo River Parkway trail is quite possibly the most popular trail in all of northern Utah. Residents of the area including UVSC students utilize a five and half mile stretch of the trail through Provo Canyon for occasional recreation and regular exercise. Every day dozens of people can be found on the trail walking, running, biking, rollerblading or longboarding.

A lion in lamb’s clothing?

November 12, 2007 Fomer Staff Writer 0

The trailer for the new Tom Cruise, Robert Redford, Meryl Streep political commentary film Lions for Lambs shows a whole lot of nothing-a professor talking about ethics and previous students; a senator explaining a hokey new military plan for solving the current issues in the Middle East to a well-known journalist; and a couple of soldiers who are stranded in enemy territory.

Bee Movie gets a “C,” Denzel plays an “O.G.”

November 12, 2007 Fomer Staff Writer 0

Bee Movie – As strange as this seems, Bee Movie is actually scarier than An Inconvenient Truth (2006). Relax. Its frightfulness will buzz right over the kids’ heads. While Al Gore’s documentary warns about global warming, Bee Movie has a plot that plays out some of the ramifications of "Colony Collapse Disorder," the name given to the alarming phenomenon where honey bees are inexplicably dying.

In one of my classes this year, I learned that, as a society, when we’re going by dates, we no longer use B.C. and A.D. to distinguish one from the other. B.C.E. and A.C. the new "politically correct" terms, meaning Before Common Era and After Common (I guess the "Era" is implied).
