Just like the very first WAC Weekly with fall sports, we’ll break down the preseason predictions for both men’s and women’s basketball and take a look at what may happen down the line, as well as UVU wrestling. “I’m at a loss for words and gutted for our team — two lapses in discipline were the difference in today’s match,” UVU head coach Greg Maas said to reporters. “I couldn’t ask for a better start; up a goal, and even down a man, I didn’t think we’d relinquish our lead. Unfortunately, we can’t put the referee in a position to make a call in that moment. We’ll put this behind us, learn from it, and get ready for a welcomed return to Clyde Field.”
The controversy here though was just before scoring, the refs had blown their whistle to signal that Wood had been offsides, and that his goal didn’t count. Upon further review the referees declared that their call was faulty and that SJSU’s goal would stand, now leading 1-0.
