Volleyball: Weekend sweep puts UVU in second place in WAC

Following a five-set victory over perennial WAC power New Mexico State last Saturday at the Lockhart Arena, the Wolverines hit the road for visits to Chicago State and Missouri-Kansas City on Thursday and Saturday, respectively. Photo by Cody Glassett After a loss last time out at the hands of UTRGV in its conference home opener, the UVU volleyball team returned to the Lockhart Arena Saturday afternoon to take on the Aggies of New Mexico State. Despite trailing 2-1 after the third set, UVU (8-12, 3-2) was able to grind out a victory over NMSU (11-8, 3-2) in five sets (22-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20, 15-10). Photo by Byron Harward Fresh off a victory over Grand Canyon last time out, the UVU volleyball team returned to action Saturday afternoon to take on the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners in conference play. Despite having a late lead in this one, the Wolverines were unable to hold on as CSUB (10-8, 4-0) topped UVU (7-10, 2-1) in a five set nail biter (26-28, 25-22, 25-23, 16-25, 15-17). Photo by Byron Harward Fresh off of a conference-play-opening victory over Seattle University last weekend, the UVU volleyball team returned to action Thursday night to take on the GCU Lopes in Phoenix, Ariz. The Lopes were no match for the Wolverines in this one, as UVU (7-10, 2-0) topped GCU (5-10, 0-3)  in four sets (25-15, 25-18, 27-25, 25-22). Volleyball: UVU regroups before WAC play

Photo by Maricel Evangelista Fifteen games into the season, the UVU volleyball team finds itself sitting at 5-10 with the conference schedule looming on the horizon. The team has experienced its share of highs and lows as the current season has been one of streaks thus far. UVU opened the season on the road, participating in the San Jose State/University of San Francisco Invitational Tournament in California.
