Wrestling: LaMont takes first at Las Vegas tournament

Having already made history this season with a first ever tournament team title earlier in the year, the UVU wrestling team achieved another program milestone on Saturday at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational as redshirt freshman Taylor LaMont became UVU’s first ever CKLV Invitational champion. The 125 pounder, who was ranked no. 10 nationally in his weight class coming into the tournament, defeated four nationally ranked opponents en route to a 6-0 performance and a number one overall finish. UVU wrestlers find success at Wolfpack events

After a historic team tournament title at the Clarion Open to open the season, the UVU wrestling team returned to action as they headed to Raleigh, North Carolina. The Wolverines took part in the Wolfpack Duals on Nov. 18 before competing in the Wolfpack Open on Nov. 19. In the duals, UVU was matched up against Reinhardt, No. 7 NC State and UNC Pembroke. After a victory over UMKC in the opening round of the WAC Tournament last time out, the No. 3 seeded UVU volleyball team faced off against second seeded UTRGV in second-round action Friday in Edinburg, Texas. Despite a tooth and nail battle the entire way, the Wolverines came up just short in this one, falling to the Vaqueros in four sets (27-29, 25-21, 24-26, 21-25). In the duals, UVU faced three opponents during the same afternoon, and nearly came away unscathed.
