Track & Field: Taylor earns All-American honors in Eugene

Eugene, Ore.–Nic Taylor became an All-American on Wednesday after participating in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, finishing in 15th place in the country.

Taylor understands that even though this is not a team sport, it has been a collaborative effort from a lot of people to get him to this point.

Having ran the 100-meter dash in 10.35 seconds, Taylor was awarded the second team All-American honor, however he was disappointed because he did not qualify to move forward in the competition. Not making the final round was something that disappointed Taylor.

“Things happen for a reason, it’s just one of those things where I did have a good season, so I can’t say it was all a letdown,” said Taylor

Trying to stay positive Taylor said, “Nothing is finished yet until it’s actually done so we still might make the trials, and we still have work to do.”

Taylor attributes the final result on an injury that happened during the 200-meter dash.

“Going out with an injury prevented other things from happening, and it’s kind of a bummer,” said Taylor.

With a pulled hamstring, Taylor is hard at work trying to get better and keep himself ready for anything that may come. “It will be a little rehab process, and hopefully a quick turnaround,” Taylor said. “It’s not major, but it definitely played a role into how the weekend shaped up.”

With this being his final year, Taylor could try to race semi-professionally. However, he seems very interested in following his career path of public relations and becoming a speech writer.
