Wear It Now: Unique necklines set you apart from the crowd
Reading Time: 2 minutesAwards season allows red carpet watchers a chance to pick out new trends. And anyone who watched the Grammys could not help but notice what may have been the night’s biggest trend: unique necklines.
Back in the day, it used to be all about the neckline. That is what a date would see when sitting across from the woman at dinner, so it was important to pick something flattering and interesting. Take that approach and go beyond basic scoop, square and v-necks and try something new.
Day in class
For day-time wear, brightly colored tops add some warmth to the winter months and show off the design on the neck. Try a peek-a-boo look with the luxe stretch cut-out top from Express ($29.50) in violet or bali. Forever 21’s belted vent tunic top ($24.80) has a patterned strappy design that is sure to catch eyes and would look great with a pair of trendy jeans.
Night on town
For a formal event, Wet Seal’s pleat front bow dress ($29.50) keeps the neckline interesting while still staying appropriately classy. To wear something more attention-grabbing, the ruffle-front sleeveless top from Express combines ruffles and geometric shapes. Also look for keyholes, choker necklines, intertwining straps and anything unusual. The field is wide open for this trend!
