Weather gods continue to fight over Utah Valley’s atmosphere, but summer is coming whether lingering winter likes it or not. It seems like spring didn’t get much time to stick around, so here’s some pop and soft acoustic songs for April’s rainy days – and a bit of riff rock to welcome summertime.

1. The Weakerthans – “The Reasons”
Canadian rockers with silly love songs make me weak.

2. Jimi Hendrix – “Valleys of Neptune”
Ancient lands like Atlantis rise from the sea and a new world is born. Never-been-released-‘til-last-week Hendrix also makes me weak.

3. Yppah – “Gumball Machine Weekend”
A dreamy instrumental.

4. Phoenix – “1901”

5. Broken Social Scene –  “Lover’s Spit”
Besides the awesome transition from Phoenix, this song is so addictive.

6.  The White Stripes – “There’s No Home For You Here”

7. Local Natives – “Airplanes”
A short love affair involving chopsticks and encyclopedias.

8. Sleater-Kinny – “All Hands On The Bad One”

9. Guster – “Satellite”

10. Death Cab For Cutie – “This Temporary Life”

11. Sufjan Stevens – “Sister”
A drawn-out melodic beginning that crashes into a vulnerable baby sister.

12. Aimee Mann – “Deathly”
“Now that I’ve met you, would you object to never seeing each other again?”

13. The Kills – “Wait”
