An 87th minute goal and a 99th minute golden goal by Seattle University ended Utah Valley’s 2019 season and a chance at an NCAA tournament berth. The game took place on Sunday, Nov. 10, at Championship Field in Seattle. UVU hung on to a 1-0 lead for almost 56 minutes before SU tied it late, and eventually sealed it in overtime by a score of 2-1.

“We love playing here [at home], I think the girls really get up for our fans and our home field,” said UVU head coach Chris Lemay. “The teams in a really good spot, the chemistry is good right now and I think that is an attribute of why we’re getting the results that we’re getting.”
“We’re happy with the shutout, I thought we generated a lot of opportunities,” said UVU head coach Chris Lemay. “To be honest I didn’t think we were disciplined enough in front of the goal, had opportunities that should be goals. That can come back and bite us unless we sharpen it up a little bit.”
“It was a wild game you know, everything from the weather, the fans, the cards, the officiating and the goals. It was a knockout kind of battle and I don’t think we played well initially in the first 20 minutes,” said UVU head coach Chris Lemay. “We were very lethargic, second to balls, it almost took their goal to wake us up and as soon as we conceded we started to build a little momentum. I thought we took that into the second half.”
“We loved the ending and we feel like we deserved it. I felt like our possession was great all night, created a lot of chances and we stayed persistent,” said UVU head coach Chris Lemay. “Juli Carter was in the right place and she was able to tuck it away, that is what she was there to do.”
