The Wolverines traveled to Colorado Springs, Colo. on Sept 7. to start a three day tournament hosted by the Air Force Academy. Among 15 other teams, the Wolverines were hoping to get off to a hot start for the 2018 season. In the end, they were able to finish 11th with an overall score of 18 over par.

After day one, the Wolverines sat in 11th place out of the 16 team field. Gabe Lysen shot the best round of the day for the Wolverines, with an even par 72. He was able to card 10 pars and four birdies to sit in a tie for 21st for individual scores. New Mexico State was in first place with a score of 4 under par. With the Wolverines sitting at 6 over par, they would have a lot of ground to make up.

Day two showed slight improvement. Shooting a team round of four over par, the Wolverines moved up to 10th place on the leaderboard. With the University of Wyoming jumping to 9 under par, they were the new leaders for the tournament. Lysen had another solid round of one over par along with Aaron Yeates, Jake Godfrey and Tyler Holmes who also shot one over in the second round. Godfrey had a team high of four birdies in the round followed by Lysen who had three.

Needing a solid round on day three to jump up the leaderboard, the Wolverines shot a team round of eight over par. This was good enough for an 11th place finish, ahead of just five other teams in the tournament. Colorado won the tournament, carding a team score of 9 under par.. Godfrey finished some impressive play on the weekend with a score of even par on day three. He amounted six birdies on the round and finished tied for 30th for individual scores. Following Godfrey was Lysen who finished tied for 36th. He finished day three with a score of three over par, one birdie, and 13 pars.

The Wolverines will next head to Driggs, Idaho on September 17 for the Huntsman Springs Invitational. The two day tournament will be wrapped up the following day the 18th.
