School of H.A.S.S. splits

In July, the school of humanities, arts & social sciences (HASS) divided into two different institutions, with most of the arts separating to form their own department.
At UVSC, all liberal arts programs existed within HASS. With the new university status, the school was split in two to create the college of humanities with six departments (English, history and political science, philosophy, etc.) while the school of arts incorporated the remaining four subjects (music, theater, dance and art & visual communication) as well as the Woodbury Museum, currently located at the Orem University Mall.

New visual arts lab opens

The new library has made space for a visual arts lab. The lab will provide a way for students to complete their more complicated and professional art projects.

Welcome

UVUSA’s annual Week of Welcome (WOW) took place on campus this week. Events included the Crazy Olympics, night games, the White-out dance, a “Sing for your books” competition, a drive in movie, and a barbecue with live music.

Internship Services provides students with opportunities

A college education can get a person ahead in life, but internships are what give a person experience. UVU Internship Services is available to students to help them find internships that will give them experience in their desired field. Many opportunities are available where students can have once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Intramurals: the antidote to boredom

Being a university student is an opportunity and challenge. It entails more than achieving your credit hours; it’s a prerequisite to engage in activities outside of the class to complete the university experience. UVU Intramurals provides students with a way to get involved with activities outside the classroom.

Police Beat

Aug. 10- WARRANT SERVICE- While on routine patrol, Sgt. Sprague observed a suspicious male near the Chevron located at 1200 S. Geneva Rd. late at night after the business had closed for the night. After a brief investigation, it was determined the 23-year-old male suspect had two warrants for his arrest. The suspect was arrested and booked into Utah County Jail.
