Utah Flash record first playoff victory

Reading Time: 2 minutes Kevin Kruger scored 23 points and Ronald Dupree had a double-double to lead the Utah Flash to a 94-81 victory over the Bakersfield Jam in the first round of the 2009 NBA Development League Playoffs Wednesday at the McKay Center. The first playoff victory in Flash franchise history advances Utah into a second-round home game on Monday, April 20 against the winner of Thursday?s Iowa-Dakota game.

Wolverine bats humble Utes

Reading Time: 2 minutes In what seemed to be the first of Utah’s baseball-permitting weather of the season, the Wolverines’ offense was stellar and they beat in-state foe, the University of Utah 8-2. Utah Valley got off to a good start scoring two runs in the bottom of the first, but the Utes would answer, scoring two in the top of the second off of two Wolverine errors and a sac fly.

Hernandez was named the Great West Conference Track and Field Male Athlete of the Week, while Utah Valley’s Jazmine Wittman and South Dakota’s Crystal Schiernbeck both shared honors on the women’s side for the week ending April 5, the league office announced Tuesday.

Intramurals continues to promote competition among students

Reading Time: 1 minute This semester, intramurals have allowed students to compete with members of their own school in their favorite sports, like basketball and soccer, without belonging to an official campus team. It also provided many activities for students to get involved. Though the semester is coming to a close, intramurals still have much to offer students the last few weeks of school, like a golf tournament on April 14, Dodge Ball Night on April 16t, disc golf tournament April 21 and the Stress Bustin’ 5k the April 22.

Geno Auriemma led his lady Huskies to a 39-0 record and a double-digit margin in every game his team played this season.

That’s not a cheesy lyric from the latest country-western hit, but rather simple reality for UVU bulldogger Jake Woolstenhulme. The junior steer-wrestler waited until he was declared the Rocky Mountain region’s steer wrestling champion, and had earned a berth to the Intercollegiate Rodeo National Finals, before undergoing heart surgery last week to repair a condition that has hindered him since high school.

Reading Time: < 1 minute The Wolverines fought hard during last Tuesday’s game against rival BYU but let the game slide losing 9-2. With the game off to a rough start, neither team scored any runs in the first two innings. BYU was the first to reach the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning.
