UVSC President William Sederburg will receive the 2007 Parry D. Sorensen Communicator of the Year award for his work as president of the school. The award will be presented on Nov. 7 in Salt Lake City at the Wells Fargo Building. This award is one given by the Public Relations Society of America during the Golden Spike Awards for Utah’s elite business communicators.
Centro Hispano needs volunteer office assistance. Volunteers must be bilingual and will be assisting with answering and making phone calls, as well as other office duties. Volunteers should have their own transportation, commit to four hours a week and pass a background check.
A $5 Utah Transit Association (UTA) bus pass can help UVSC students deal with current parking problems and rising gas prices. Yet, only 6,000 have been issued this year as opposed to 8,000 last year."Paying $80 for a parking pass sucks," stated student Joyce Jacox, "But when you consider the amount of time you waste waiting for the bus to come and fill up with people, and then if you have to walk across campus to your classes, it’s just a big waste of time.
As part of the transition to university status, the school Web site is undergoing a change from www.uvsc.edu to www.uvu.edu."It’s a monumental task," said Ray Walker, UVSC’s chief information officer.The transition includes rebuilding many of the Web site’s pages and changing all references from Utah Valley State College, including logos and words.
