Almost immediately after receiving a degree from Emory University, Chris donated $25,000 from his bank account to charity and drove out west, abandoning his car and burning all of the cash in his wallet along the way. He even abandoned his identity, and adopted a new name to match his new life, Alexander Supertramp.
This moving book follows McCandless’ journey of self discovery that eventually leads to his lonely death in an abandoned bus in the Alaskan wilderness. Along with McCandless, we the readers are forced to examine important questions on the true nature of happiness and what in this world is truly important.
