There are several places where students socialize during school hours, but one main area is the hallway.
Several students were asked what it means when someone of the opposite gender sits by them in the hall of flags.
“If she doesn’t say hi in a few minutes then I would say hi because she is obviously okay with being friendly,” Andrew Poulter said.
Brendan Schiller had a similar opinion about this.
“If there is no one else around, she is interested in talking,” Schiller said.
Both Poulter and Schiller think it means something when someone sits by them, but what do the girls think? Jazmin Oteo agreed with the boys.
“Sometimes people sit close because they think you’re cute,” Oteo said. “Or they want to get to know you, but they are too shy. Or maybe they are too lazy to keep walking.”
Although most students thought this gesture of sitting near somone when no one is around meant something, two students didn’t see it that way. When Chase Christensen was asked what it meant when a girl sat down near him, he responded, “I don’t know, she wants to sit down? I wouldn’t think anything of it.”
Adeline Holindrake agreed with Christensen.
“I honestly wouldn’t know what it means,” Holindrake said.
It could be a good idea to be careful about where you sit because that simple action can mean several things to different people.
