UVU cross-country season comes to an end
The season came to an end on Friday at the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships for the Utah Valley University cross-country teams. Tyson Lambert finished in 41st place with a time of 31:32.48 and helped the men’s team to an 11th place finish. Sam Heaton paced the women’s team with a time of 22:10.09, which was good enough for 40th place overall. Five other Wolverines helped the women’s team place 14th in the race. WAC champion Jason Lynch was among the leaders at the 7,000m mark but had to withdraw due to an illness.
UVU basketball teams win home openers
Just a night removed from losing their season openers at BYU, the Utah Valley University men’s and women’s basketball teams won their home openers. Rebecca MaWhinney scored a career-high 23 points and Georgia Agnew recorded 12 assists as UVU defeated Bethesda University 91-64 on Saturday afternoon.
Konner Frey had 17 points and nine rebounds and led five Wolverines in double figures in an 89-60 win over Great Falls. Marcel Davis had 15 points, Ivory Young had 13 points, Telly Davenport had 11 points and Darrious Hamilton had 10 for UVU. UVU also outrebounded the Great Falls 56-24 on the night.
