1. Faux Fur Galore

In previous years we have seen fur in many different shapes and sizes. Plan on seeing this trend continue on into 2023, from fur dresses to fur-lined coats, and even fur pants.

2. Tumblr is back

Fashion is sure to repeat itself and you can expect to see that through black fishnets, Doc Martens, and circle skirts. 2022 was full of Y2k and repeated trends from the early 2000s. In 2023, expect to see more of an early 2010s, grunge Tumblr look resurface.

3. Viva Magenta

Viva Magenta is Pantone’s color of the year (see: pantone.com/color-of-the-year/2023). Expect to see this deep, pinkish-red shade everywhere, not just in clothing. Pots, pans, and pens will all likely come in Viva Magenta.

4. Leg Warmers

We have all heard the terms, “That’s going to come back in style” or “That is out of style.” Leg warmers gained popularity in the ‘80s in athletic outfits. Now, you may see leg warmers in more everyday wear.

5. Metallic Clothing

Another trend that was born in the 1980s, metallic clothing is making a comeback. We have already seen this on the runway from designers such as Brandon Maxwell and Jil Sander. They displayed this trend only through dresses and skirts, but don’t be surprised to see metallic shirts and pants on the clothes rack.

6. Parachute is paraCUTE!

Parachute pants took 2022 by storm for their baggy fit and comfortableness. This trend was born in the ‘90s and, much like leg warmers, was worn as athleisure outfits. In 2023, expect to see parachute skirts, dresses, shorts, and tops. Bubble hems will be very popular.

7. Thrifted and DIY fashion

Sustainability and developing your personal style is a big conversation on social media. Thrifting and flipping clothing pieces to reflect an individual’s style is already very popular and will continue to be popular in 2023. You might want to bust out your sewing machine!

8. “Oh thanks, it’s vintage”

Going along the lines of thrifted and DIY fashion, all things vintage will continue to be popular. Old is the new new. Whether you’re looking for classics that will never go out of style, or looking to try the newest trends, shopping vintage is the way to go.

9. Retro is all the Rage

Just like for women, the men’s fashion trends in 2023 are all about throwback styles. Expect color blocking and polos to be worn. Brands like L.L. Bean have already begun this resurgence by welcoming back their 1990s archive collection.

10. Getting Personal

Overall, 2023 is the year for wearing what makes you comfortable and confident. This year is for developing a personal style. A style that reflects who you are and makes you feel good about yourself. Trends will come and go, yet confidence will remain timeless.
