Millions go to children’s benefit

The “Festival of Trees” is what Christmas is all about. The festival was inspired 37 years ago by 15 women whose purpose was to raise funds for the Primary Children’s Medical Center. Every item sold-from Christmas trees to freshly baked goods-all proceeds go to Primary Children’s Medical Center.

A stuntman in our midst

Stuntman Benjamin Patient, a 26-year-old UVSC freshman, almost had his dream come to an end last December when he was in a collision with an SUV on his motorcycle.Doctors told him he was lucky to be alive; and after nine months of medication and rehabilitation, he’s finally back to his old self.

Composing with the big dogs

UVSC student Nate Drew is well on his way to fulfilling his dreams. The 27-year-old music major has been chasing his love of music since the age of two, when he began mimicking his mother on the piano.He has studied at UCLA and the University of Utah, and his impressive credentials landed him a weeklong internship with the great James Newton Howard, a composer who has written scores for dozens of huge blockbuster films including The Fugitive, The Sixth Sense and Blood Diamond.

Get more sleep, get better grades

If you’ve been worried about your GPA, sleep on it.According to a recent study through Brown University, as cited in an article titled "Study shows college students in poor sleep pattern" by Jazmine Pendleton, "Seven to eight hours of sleep is the recommended amount that a college student is to have every night, but on average, college students get about six hours per night.
