At Brent Brown Ballpark on April 3, the Utah Valley University Wolverines scored a school record 14 runs in the second inning of a pounding of Southern Utah University 23-9.

In the opening game of the four-game series on April 1, UVU waited out a 30-minute snow delay before giving up seven runs in the last three innings to lose 9-7. UVU split the four-game set with SUU in Orem with its overall record currently set at 10-12. UVU’s record against SUU is 6-2 this season.

Eight UVU players had at least two hits and four had at least three hits in the 23-hit attack led by Jace Brinkerhoff who had three hits including a solo home run and three runs batted in as he raised his hitting streak to 12 games.

Chris Benson also followed the attack with three hits to increase his hitting streak to 20 games. Zane Gray pitched five innings, allowing six runs, four earned, while giving up 11 hits to earn the victory. Gray’s record is now 2-4.
