Students may be a little hesitant to give Shoga, the modern Japanese sushi bar and restaurant, a try — many other sushi restaurants in the Orem and Provo area can leave you wanting. After having visited restaurants such as Asuka, Damae and even Happy Sumo, I am confident when I say Shoga serves the finest sushi in the valley.

This modern little restaurant is decked out in stylish details including zebra stripe chairs, asparagus colored walls, and contemporary artwork. In addition to the eclectic décor, the funky electronic music playing overhead makes it all but impossible for guests to ignore the sensation of having just stepped into a chic Manhattan restaurant.

Shoga’s menu is just as captivating as the décor and it is the quality food that will keep you visiting this contemporary restaurant frequently. Shoga offers a selection of appetizers, soups and noodle dishes, Don-Buri and dinner entrees; but the main attraction is, without question, the traditional and specialty sushi rolls.

Try the Mango Tango roll. It is a delicious and unique roll made with Unagi, avocado, bell peppers and cucumber, but the best part is the fresh, sliced mango placed carefully on top. I would also recommend the Spicy Tuna roll and the Citrus roll.

Stop by Shoga in the early afternoon and enjoy their great lunch special. Miso soup and two traditional style rolls for $9.95 is served until 3 p.m. every day.
