Mills repeats as Great West Pitcher of the Week

PORTLAND, Ore. — For the second consecutive week, Utah Valley University junior Tiffany Mills has been named the Pacific Coast Softball Conference Mountain Division Pitcher of the Week. The weekly award was announced Tuesday by the league.

 

Mills (Riverside, Calif.) had another impressive week last week for UVU, as the right-hander went 1-0 with two saves and a 1.17 ERA in four appearances (two starts). She allowed just two earned runs and 10 hits off of her, while striking out eight in 12 innings of work. Mills picked up saves versus Columbia and (2.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 K) and Army (1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 K) and earned the victory in a complete game outing against Lafayette (7.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 5 K). The Wolverine hurler helped Utah Valley go 3-1 last week and finish 7-1-1 in nine contests at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla.

 

For the season, Mills is 8-3 with a 2.24 ERA and has a PCSC-leading four saves. Mills has also helped the Wolverines to a first-place record currently in the PCSC Mountain Division with a 13-5-1 overall record (.711 winning percentage). UVU will begin league play March 30-31, when defending champion Portland State comes to Orem for a four-game series.
