Game of the week recap:
Breesus King of the Drews (3-4) put up enough points to beat everyone in the entire league in week seven. He would have beaten everyone except the Las Vegas Locos (7-0) who found a way to win again. Drews put up a huge amount of points this week, getting 60 points between Phillip Rivers and Danny Woodhead. Two touchdown catches from Jarvis Landry, two touchdowns from Giants’ Defense, and solid games from Le’Veon Bell and Chris Ivory had Drews looking like the win was his with 145 points. Unfortunately for Drews, the Locos experienced the best week of their season. With 30 point performances from Ryan Tannehill and Todd Gurley, and 20+ point games from Julio Jones, Stefon Diggs, Mark Ingram, and Rams’ Defense, the Locos scored a ridiculous 171 fantasy points. Despite strong play from Drews, the Locos hold on 171-145, easily the highest scoring game of the season.
Neither Eazy G (3-3-1) nor Team Morin (2-5) have been throwing up a huge amount of points all season, but that changed this weekend and both teams threw up quite a few points. Team Morin got huge production from his receivers as both T.Y Hilton and Mike Evans put up 30+ fantasy point performances. Eazy G got a massive 38 fantasy points from Lamar Miller, who finally came to life the past few weeks. He also got big games from Andrew Luck and Antonio Brown, who had his best game since Big Ben was hurt. In the end, Eazy G managed to outlast Team Morin, 117-114.
Victory Formation (3-4) wanted to keep their revival going despite losing last week. To do that they needed to get past Here so I Don’t Get Fined (2-5) who’s record is deceiving, as they’ve been in many, many close games. With Marcus Mariota hurt, Formation looked to Blake Bortles to lead his team to victory this week. With Doug Martin and Ryan Matthews scoring well and Amari Cooper putting up a big game, Formation was in good shape to win this one. Fined came roaring back on Monday night, as Joe Flacco, Chris Johnson, John Brown, and Justin Forsett got a chance to play. Lots of points were scored, but not enough as Fined fell just short and Formation was able to breathe a sigh of relief winning this one 106-101.
Slammin Fortes (4-3) and Amazing St. Patrick’s (3-4) didn’t have many points between the two, but that didn’t stop this one from being close. Fortes got another big game from Calvin Johnson and Steve Smith Sr. had another solid outing. No one on Patrick’s did much to turn any heads, as Larry Fitzgerald was largely shut down and boom or bust Jimmy Graham had a rough week. The one shining spot was Allen Robinson who had a terrific game and scored 21 fantasy points. That proved to be the difference as Fortes’ slide continues and Patrick’s win, 54-52.
Poff for America (2-4-1) was the highest scoring team this week and he needed to see that kind of magic again to beat the #2 seeded Mr. Sports Editor (5-2). While Carson Palmer had a good game and Keenan Allen showed up to play, DeAndre Hopkins had an uncharacteristically quiet day, and Demarco Murray was stuffed by the Panther’s Defense. Editor came in boasting the unworldly Devonta Freeman, but Freeman came crashing back down to Earth this week and was shut out of the end zone. He still managed to rack up enough yards to have a solid day. No one stood out, but everyone played well, with five players getting double digit points. Editor didn’t do it flashy, but he did it effectively and won this one, 88-70.
This week was close everywhere, with games ranging from low scoring and gritty, to shootouts like we’ve never seen before this season. Each week brings more exciting matchups and this one was no different.
