UVU’s flag football team won the Region VI Tournament in Tempe, AZ, which was held Nov. 7-8. This marks the Wolverines third regional championship in the last 5 years.

They went into the tournament as the number one seed and won every game going 6-0. Not only did they win every game, they also worked every opponent through the “mercy” rule, which is a rule that ends the game early if a team is ahead by more than 20 points.

“No team has ever come close to dominating a regional tournament in this manner”, said Bo Earls, who is the intramural director. “My expectations were very low for the team going into the tournament,” Earls added. “I thought that they wouldn’t do well, but they dominated, and I’m very proud of them and how great they played.”

For being regional champions, they received a $1,650 stipend toward their trip to the national tournament, which is in south Florida at the end of December. Good luck to the Wolverines flag football team in Nationals — hopefully they will go and annihilate everyone just like they did in the regional tournament.
