The new 13,550 square foot building for the Wee Care Center will have its ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on Friday, Sept. 27 at 2:00 p.m.

The event will take place at the new building at 1140 S. Wolverine Way, which is located northwest of the current Wee Care Center facility on campus.

The ceremony will start off with the ribbon cutting ceremony, which will include several different speakers such as Michelle Taylor, Vice President of Student Affairs, President Holland and Paige Holland, UVU First Lady.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony is finished, around 2:30 p.m., there will be an open house for everyone to attend. Tours will be held of the building, snacks will be provided and face paintings will be available.

“[The] playground will be open, so our hope is that we will have tons of kids attend the ribbon cutting and actually get to be out there using the playground and playing with the toys,” Jessica Ballard, Director of Events and Communications, said.

The new building broke ground on Jan. 10, 2013. Now that construction is finally done, the new facility has a lot to offer and children, parents and staff can start to enjoy it.

The new facility will allow many more students who are parents to have their children at the Wee Care Center so they can attend school and earn their degrees from UVU.

The Wee Care Center is a program of UVU’s turning point and one of its biggest purposes is to raise the completion rate of women completing college. The overall purpose is to offer a way for low-income UVU students with children to be able to attend school.
