UVSC hosts Graduate and Health school fair

Reading Time: 2 minutes

For the first time, UVSC will be hosting a Graduate School and Professional Health School Fair, to be held in the Grande Ballroom (SC106a).

The grad fair begins Thursday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. and will continue till 3 p.m.

More than 80 schools plan on attending, representing general graduate studies offices, specific graduate programs, and professional health schools: medical, dental, osteopathic, physical therapy, chiropractic, optometry, pharmacy, and dental hygiene, among others. Programs in law, English and business will also be at the fair.

Tiffany Nez, a UVSC graduate who now works in the Honors Office on campus, sees the fair as an excellent possibility for students. "Actually that is how I got into Cornell," she said. "I went to a grad fair, spoke with the (representatives), which gave me a connection to the school, and the rest is history."
Because the fair only comes once per year, seniors are especially encouraged to attend the event.

The grad fair offers opportunities to students such as networking and building relationships with programs that are available. The representatives are at the fair to answer any questions about graduate or professional school study, as well as answer specific questions concerning their respective schools, their strengths and each student’s options.

Career Services and Student Employment and Academic Advising will be sponsoring the event, with its Web site offering suggestions to prospective attendees to enable the best experience.

Among these, appropriate dress is recommended, as well as a little preparation beforehand in regards to the schools.

As the Web site states, "You’ll get much more out of your conversations with school representatives if you’ve taken the time beforehand to inform yourself a bit about the schools that most interest you."

The list of schools attending can be viewed online at www.uvsc.edu/csse/gradfair
