One hundred employers and 1,500 job seekers expected to attend the event at the Utah Valley Convention Center

Provo, UT – Utah’s economy has been getting better and better, but there are still lots of people looking for a job – 49,600 people according to the January employment numbers. Tens of thousands more are looking for a better job than the one they have. This Wednesday is the perfect opportunity for those Utahns when the state’s largest job fair comes to Provo.

The Utah Valley Job Fair will be held March 9 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Utah Valley Convention Center. The timing has been set specifically to cater to both those who are currently unemployed and those who are under-employed, i.e. workers who are not fully utilizing their skills, training, experience or education.

“We want to give people the chance to not just find a job, but find the job,” said Utah Department of Workforce Services Area Director John Talcott. “We have hand-selected quality employers that offer fulfilling career opportunities that can make families and the community stronger.”

And the job fair is not just a service for Utah resident: it’s an opportunity for employers to find the employees that make their organizations a success in an economy where hiring is more competitive.

“Utah Valley has always been a great location for businesses to start and to grow, in large part because of the quality labor force we have here,” said Utah Valley Chamber President Rona Rahlf. “This event is one more way to bring employers and employees together.”

A sampling of employers participating in the job fair include Intermountain Healthcare, L-3 Communications, Best Friends Animal Society, Hadco Construction, Utah Transit Authority, TSA, Verizon, Wayfair.com, Xactware, Zermatt Resort and Spa and many more.

With a wide array of community sponsors, the event has been established to meet the needs of many different kinds of job seekers, including unemployed, under-employed, veterans, students, individuals with disabilities and those who have a criminal record.

Event sponsors include the Utah Department of Workforce Services, Brigham Young University, Utah Valley University, Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce, Utah Department of Corrections, Utah State Office of Rehabilitation, Utah Valley Convention Center and LDS Employment Resource Services.
