Jan. 21- The UVU library was evacuated after a smoke detector triggered the alarm. Campus police responded to the alarm and were able to determine the cause.

“The detector was close to some duct work, which caused it to go off,” said Sgt. Justin Sprague. “When they’re close to ducts, they can fill up with dust and go off.”

Police had the detector cleaned and placed a shield over it to prevent it from filling with more dust.

Students and faculty were allowed back into the building about 10 minutes after emergency personnel arrived.
