For the most part UVU police have it easy in this safe valley, but like most campuses, UVU is not void of interesting incidents. Three notable calls were recently made to dispatch, including a missing person, suspicious activity, and public urination.

Officers G. Smith and D. Jenkins responded to a dispatch call Monday, Aug 22 at 4:47, concerning a male seen urinating near the bus stop by the roundabout.

“I arrived and located the suspect. The suspect was under the influence of alcohol,” the Officer said. “He was issued a citation for public urination and public intoxication.” He was arrested an hour later.

There was also a missing person report dispatched to the Orem police station Thursday, Aug 25 and at 8:17 UVU became involved since the child was possibly lost on campus.

“Two female students located the missing subject and we were able to return him to his mother,” Officer J. Ross said.

Officer G. Smith was dispatched to the education building Friday, Aug 26, regarding a suspicious male looking into the building with a flashlight.

“Upon arrival I made contact with the male. He advised that he was “Geo-cashing.” Nothing suspicious was found on the scene,” Officer G. Smith said.
