UVSC President William Sederburg will receive the 2007 Parry D. Sorensen Communicator of the Year award for his work as president of the school. The award will be presented on Nov. 7 in Salt Lake City at the Wells Fargo Building.

This award is one given by the Public Relations Society of America during the Golden Spike Awards for Utah’s elite business communicators. According to the Golden Spike Awards’s Web site, the Communicator of the Year award is the "highest honor in the public relations and communication excellence in Utah." The awards are given annually and recognize achievement in the public relations and communications professional and corporate fields.

President Sederburg was nominated for the award by the vice president for advancement and marketing of UVSC, Val Hale. "I’m obviously very pleased and honored to receive this recognition," President Sederburg said in a press release. "But it really is easy to communicate when UVSC has such a great story to tell."

The president has been asked to give a 10-15 minute acceptance speech at the awards luncheon. The office of the president said that it may be a lot of pressure to give a speech for receiving Communicator of the Year, but not for President Sederburg; he has no trouble speaking.
