Women’s soccer: UVU falls to Colorado College in last minutes of match

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The Utah Valley University women’s soccer team suffered another loss on the road, this time at the hands of Colorado College in the last minutes of the match. This marks the second-straight loss for the Wolverines on the road, also falling to Wyoming on Friday night by a score of 1-0. With Sunday’s loss, UVU falls to 4-3-0 on the season and Colorado College improves to 3-3-0 with the win.

The only goal of the day came off the foot of Colorado’s Clara Richter in the 82nd minute as she chipped the ball over two UVU defenders, and found the net for the winning goal.

Libby Weber put a shot on target in the 12th minute of the match but was denied by goalkeeper Molly Hiniker.

Goalkeeping duties were split between Brooklyn Nielsen and Sarah Davis for the match. Nielsen took the box during the first half and recorded two saves. Davis recorded one save during the second half.

Colorado College outshot UVU 13-9, as Weber led the Wolverines with three shots and one shot on goal. Breanna DeWaal had two shots in the match and Tori Smith, Sara Callister, Sheridan Fox and Sarah Cipperley all had one shot each.

UVU looks to keep its home winning streak alive against in-state rival Utah Sept. 16. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. MT.
