Pullman, Wash.— The Utah Valley University men’s golf team finished seventh at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate Tuesday. The Wolverines carded a combined 24-over-par 876 through three rounds.

Tournament host Washington State took home the title after shooting 33-under-par 819 (272-267-280). UVU finished seventh out of nine teams, just ahead of Weber State and Grand Canyon at the event.

“Bottom line we didn’t get it done,” said Utah Valley head coach Chris Curran in a statement to wolverine green.com. “Our lack of tournament experience showed today. We need to be more mentally focused and handle our emotions in a better manner.”

Sophomore Blair Bursey led the Wolverines for the second straight tournament, finishing tied for 35th with a 5-over 218. Fellow teammates Perry Wright and Ariel Elftman-Hanson were the only other Wolverines to finish in the top 50. Wright tied for 37th, carding a 6-over 219 and Elftman-Hanson finished the tournament in a tie for 42nd with an 8-over 221.

UVU co-captain JT Timmons scored the best round of the day for the Wolverines with a 1-over 72. Timmons finished the tournament in a tie for 51st with a 10-over 223. Dalton Jackson, a sophomore from Nephi, ended in 64th place with a 19-over 232.

Utah Valley’s men will return to action Oct. 5 in Park City, Utah with the Utah Invitational.
