Zion expedition

A fall expedition has been planned for students who want to serve in the community and make new friends while touring Zion National Park.

The expedition will take place Oct. 13-16. With trail restoration, cleaning up, having fun, camping out and hiking, this year’s expedition is filled with activities for everyone.

The Volunteer and Service Learning Center Director Mike Moon says that there are at least two expeditions throughout the school year. There is one in the spring, one in the fall and sometimes they plan a third expedition in the summer.

Space is limited. The first 12 students who sign up and pay the fee at the Outdoor Adventure Center will be able to go this year. The fee for the expedition is $90 and it covers transportation, lodging, food and the park entrance fee.

“Sometimes students are so locked in their group of friends that they don’t make new friends and this is such a good opportunity to meet other people and build lasting relationships,” Moon said.
