UVU

 

Elevator Rescue:

Aug. 5- Police were called to help a woman who was stuck in an elevator in the Classroom Building. The officers helped the woman remain calm while they waited for the elevator contractor to repair the broken elevator. The contractor was able to get the elevator to the main floor after about 45 minutes and the woman was able to get out without injury.

 

Suspicious Circumstances:

Aug. 7- The cleaning crew alerted officers to a large pile of trash in the basement of one of the buildings. It appeared someone was living in the building. An officer searched the area but was unable to find anyone who could be the suspect.

Aug. 10- Officers received reports of three individuals running around the roof of the Student Life Building. The complainant was unable to provide police with a description of the individuals, and the officers were unable to locate the suspects after searching the area.

Aug. 10- An officer was sent to investigate reports of a suspicious backpack in the library. The officer located the backpack and, after determining the bag was not hazardous, confiscated the bag. The officer was unable to contact the owner and the backpack was placed in UVU evidence.

 

 

OREM CITY

 

Under the Influence:

Aug. 6- Police received reports of a suspicious vehicle parked at a local bank. An officer arrived with a police dog to investigate the vehicle and found methamphetamine and heroin. One of the occupants of the car was charged and arrested.

 

Joyride:

Aug. 6- An officer pulled over a vehicle without its headlights on. After approaching the vehicle, the officer discovered three juveniles were taking the car out for a joyride. The parents were contacted and instructed to pick up their children. Charges are being referred.

 

Traffic Accident:

Aug. 9- An officer was riding his motorcycle down State Street when he was struck by a 19-year-old woman turning out of the Ridley’s parking lot. The officer was knocked over, but sustained minimal injuries. Utah Highway Patrol investigated the situation and the woman was cited.
