UVU’s Office of Internation Affairs and Diplomacy is sponsoring a lecture from Rudolph “Rudy” Moise, Ambassador at large for the Republic of Haiti. The lecture will be held in the Sorenson Center 206bc at 11:30 a.m.

Moise was born in Port-Au-Prince and moved to the United States at age 17. When Moise arrived in the U.S. he had the task of learning English and also completing his high school education. From there he went on to earn an MBA from the University of Miami, a doctorate degree in osteopathy from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and a juris doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law. To add to that impressive list he also holds a flight surgeon degree from the U.S. Air Force of Aerospace Medicine and has served as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Moise has also worked as a primary care physician, an attorney, an entrepreneur and an actor.

In January 2010 he traveled to Haiti with a disaster rescue team to help after the earthquake that destroyed much of Port-Au-Prince. While he was there he helped with pulling people from the rubble, administering lifesaving medical care, and everything in between. After returning from the rescue efforts he collected and shipped more than 300,000 items to Haiti.

In April 2014 he was appointed Haiti Ambassador-at-large by President Mitchell Martelly, and has continued his service to his home country.

This lecture is open to the public and anyone who is interested is invited to attend.
