Students and their immediate families will soon be able to receive food from the new food pantry on campus.

There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the pantry on Friday, Sept. 17, at 11:30 a.m. in LC 205.

The food pantry is sponsored jointly by the Volunteer & Service Learning Center and Community Action Services and Food Bank. It will be permanently located on campus, supplied with non-perishable food donated through the annual campus food drive in late November.

The food pantry has been established to increase student retention and to promote healthful eating habits by students, according to Michael Moon, program coordinator for the Volunteer & Service Learning Center.

The new pantry will be open beginning Sept. 20, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is available for any students needing assistance.
