More than 100 clubs gathered together in the UVU Ballroom Jan. 20 and 21. Within two days many clubs, such as the English Conversation Club and the Filipino club, were able to recruit additional students. The Filipino club received more than 40 new members and The English Conversation Club got more than 100 volunteers.

Out of the 118 clubs that participated, there were several that stood out to Kylie McGill, UVUSA vice president of Clubs.

“All of the new clubs who just chartered are already on the ball (such as) Spikeball, RC Aircraft, Microbiology, Society for Collegiate Leadership & Achievement, Cyber Security, Harmonium Cadence, Computer Engineering, Bagpipe & Celtic,” said McGill.

Students who visited eight clubs and completed a punch card received two free tacos from Taco Bell.

“This giveaway was a great incentive for students to explore the clubs,” said McGill.

At the end of each day, UVUSA held a drawing and gave out two Beats headphones to Abby Budd and Clarissa Adams.

“I enjoyed the fun atmosphere as well as the great organization brought by Clubs in UVUSA,” said Cristobal Villegas, a member of the Unidos Saldremos Adelante Leadership Organization (USALO).

Chantelle Thompson, vice president of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), said that Club Rush was a good way to meet others and learn about different opportunities.

“For PRSSA, Club Rush was a great way for us to network with students who didn’t even know public relations existed,” said Thompson. “A lot of people are looking at our program as an opportunity to switch majors and find something that fits them, so that was kind of an unexpected positive from Club Rush.”

“Clubs are one of the best ways, if not the best way to get involved and do more of what you love,” said McGill. “With 172 clubs now on campus, there truly is something for everyone and if there’s not, they can start their own club.”

To further connect students with clubs and activities, UVUSA will hold Clubs Palooza on Feb. 18 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the ballroom.

“Clubs will host an event, activity, or regular club meeting on this night for students to see clubs in action,” said McGill.Students can enter to win a trip to Disneyland; the winners will be announced at the end of the event.
