Students at UVU will have a rare opportunity to hear one man’s unusual and engaging personal journey through life.

The journey will take students from his family beginnings, a life on the run and his eventual return to being a productive member of society.

Frank Abagnale Jr. will be speaking to students at UVU on Tuesday, March 29 at 12:00 p.m. in the Grande Ballroom. Abagnale is best known for the Hollywood film “Catch Me If You Can,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio. The film portrays his imaginative criminal capabilities and the fascinating life they led to.

Abaganale’s improbable story begins at the age of 16, where he began traveling the world, forging $2.5 million worth of checks in 26 countries and creating at least eight different identities. Abagnale’s tale eventually ends in prison but not before escaping federal custody twice and all before his 22nd birthday.

Abagnale now runs Abagnale & Associates, a fraud-consulting firm based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Since becoming a legitimate consultant and businessman, Abagnale has consulted for the FBI on fraud investigations and taught at the FBI Academy. He currently resides in Charleston, South Carolina.
