Getting paid to go to school

Tuition is on the rise and paying for it can be worrisome, however opportunities are available for you to pay for your education without the stress of student loans. UVU offers many scholarships to students so you don’t have to be worried about paying for school yourself. Here are some scholarships that you can apply for so you can get paid to go to school:

Deans Merit Scholarship
This scholarship requires students to be admitted to UVU, have submitted transcripts, and have submitted an ACT or SAT test score. Requirements are major-specific with additional criteria determined by the department. GPA requirements vary from a 2.5-3.5. Residency is required. The award is full- tuition for up to two semesters.

PACE Scholarship

This privately funded scholarship recognizes students who show their commitment to attending UVU while working outside of campus and working on their bachelor’s degrees.

The requirements are as follows: Utah residency, junior class standing (60 credits or more), and a letter of recommendation that includes information about the student’s academic promise from a full-time staff member. The award is $500 per year.

Culture Diversity Scholarship

This scholarship is open to any incoming freshman, transfer or continuing students with an ethnic background. Scholarship is half-tuition for up to two semesters. Residency is required as well as a 2.5 GPA, and a completed FAFSA.

Students must submit a one- page essay stating their cultural background, how you can help other multicultural students to succeed at UVU, and what you would do to promote academic, professional and personal growth for your cultural group or other minorities. Students are required to attend a three-day workshop prior to the start of fall semester.

Exceptional Performance Scholarship

Various departments offer this scholarship: Athletics, Dance, Music, Presidential Ambassadors, Sterling Scholars, Student Alumni, Student Government and Theater. The Scholarship will pay full-tuition for up to two semesters. This scholarship requires between a 2.0 and 3.0 GPA with 12 earned credit hours per semester.

University Honors Scholarship

This scholarship is for a partial housing award for those accepted into the UVU Honors Program and has demonstrated commitment to high achievement.

The Honors Program admits 150 students annually based on potential for innovation, creativity and intellectual inquiry. Students must be admitted to UVU, have submitted transcripts, and have submitted an ACT or SAT test score. You must have the required GPA of 3.5 or above and an ACT score of 25. Residents and non- residents may apply.

Trio Scholarship

This scholarship is for low income freshman and transfer students who are also first generation students. The scholarship is for half tuition for up to two semesters. Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA, claim residency and have completed their FAFSA.

An essay stating your academic goals is also required—Do you plan to graduate from UVU? Will you finish your academic plan for graduation within 6 years? What is your high school academic background?
