Reading Time: 2 minutes As part of Ethics Awareness week, a panel discussion titled “No One Calls Me a Hero” focused on ethics in war. The panel featured Kenn Reagle, a poet and Vietnam veteran. Wayne Hanowitz, a UVU philosophy professor with more than 20 years of military experience, and Lisa Beaudry, a UVU student and Marine Corps veteran, also participated in the panel.

Reading Time: 2 minutes The Jaws of Life saved Danny Gibbons from a nearly fatal auto accident in 2005. A few years later, his life-turning experience became his winning story in the “Someday Stories” contest sponsored by Wells Fargo. Gibbons saw the contest advertised on his Wells Fargo auto loan statement.

Reading Time: < 1 minute Seven Utah Valley University students recently returned from a “Pathways to New York” event, where students learned from business professionals at prestigious companies in New York City. The purpose of the trip was to help students network with professionals and get a feel for what NYC has to offer.

Reading Time: 2 minutes Sept. 2 marks the first day of UVU’s first graduate students pursuing their master’s of education degree. There are officially 22 students that are enrolled in the program. One such graduate student is Nancy Hale, a teacher with 19 years of experience in the Alpine School District and the wife of Val Hale, vice president of UVU institutional development.

Reading Time: 2 minutes During the summer, construction began on the old library located in the Losee Center in order to transform it into the future headquarters for Student Services. The building will be renamed the Losee Center for Student Success.

UVU Internship Services is available to students to help them find internships that will give them experience in their desired field. Many opportunities are available where students can have once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Reading Time: 2 minutes The Lakeview Room at the library had barely enough room to fit the people who came to say goodbye and shake hands with the former president of UVU, Sederburg, and welcome Liz Hitch as the new interim president.

Reading Time: 2 minutes Takashi Hiraoka, a former Hiroshima mayor, spoke on Aug. 4 to UVU students and faculty about the bombing of Hiroshima and his reasons for nuclear disarmament.

Reading Time: 2 minutes The growing sport of disc golf has made its official debut at UVU with the addition of a disc golf course to the campus, designed for recreational play and as a practice green. The course features 13 holes as well as a practice hole. All the holes are par-2 and range from 83 to 209 feet.
