Into the Wild

Sean Penn takes another successful crack at writing and directing with this adaptation of Jon Krakauer’s non-fictional book.

Into the Wild is a beautiful, aesthetic-filled journey you experience through the eyes of Christopher McCandless, a rebellious college graduate who leaves behind every possession, every cent and everyone he knows, for self-discovery through nature.

Penn’s film is filled with beauty. While some movies leave you remembering a few beautiful shots burned into your mind, Into the Wild is nothing but awe. It is chalked full to the extent that you almost can’t recall them individually because of the hefty load of them.

The remarkably talented cast was led by Emile Hirsch (The Girl Next Door) as McCandless. Eerily evident from his first scene, Hirsch mirrors the Academy Award winning acting of a young Penn.

If you can handle a little language and hippy nudity and a whole lot of emotion and heart, Into the Wild is the tale of human experience for you.
