The lady Wolverines played three games during the semester break and started off 2010 with a loss, which now puts the losing streak at four straight.

After finishing finals and returning home from a three game road trip early in December, UVU took on Portland State on December 18. The Wolverines endured a tough 85-58 loss against the Vikings.

UVU had to go without senior Julie Smith and junior Kayla Burningham against Portland State, but sophomore Jenna Johnson led the team in scoring finishing with 20 points while sophomore teammate Erika Newbold finished with 10.

Eleven day’s later UVU returned to the court to face the Portland Pilots on Dec. 29 where they suffered another home loss 78-40, playing again without leading scorer Smith. Johnson and Newbold again led their team finishing with 13 points and 10 points respectively.

The Wolverines finished off 2009 traveling north to face Utah State on Dec. 31. UVU took another loss finishing the game 63-45 against the Aggies. For the third straight game, the Wolverines were without Smith, but senior Blake Reynolds finished with 10 points while senior Asumi Nakayama and Johnson both finished with eight.

UVU started off the New Year against in-state rival Utah on Jan. 6 in a battle that ended in a 65-30 loss. Johnson yet again was the leading scorer finishing with 12 points while Smith returned to play with her team adding nine points.

UVU will return to its home court and play its second conference game Jan. 14 against North Dakota.
