SPORTS BRIEFING

Sept. 20, 2012

PROVO, Utah — UVU’s men’s basketball team spent an afternoon preparing food boxes for homeless families in need as it volunteered Wednesday afternoon at Community Action Services and Food Bank in Provo.

In assembling the food boxes, the Wolverines contributed to Community Action’s service of providing food packages to nearly 100 families in Utah County per day.

Community Action is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency assistance and long-term support to help families in poverty throughout Utah, Wasatch and Summit counties. Community Action sponsors several programs like food banks, family development, home buyer and mortgage counseling, and a Backpack for Kids food program.

Now through the end of September, any person who donates one personal hygiene item through Community Action will receive one half hour of free jump time at hang Time Extreme Trampolines. For more details on this promotion and for information on how to donate or volunteer with Community Action, visit their website or call (801) 373-8200.
