RSL took on Toronto FC at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday June 27, and came away with a 3-0 win with goals from Yura Movsisyan, Kyle Beckerman, and Clint Mathis.

RSL had their work cut out for them right from the beginning. In only the second minute Toronto was given their first corner kick creating a chance for them to score first but failed.

For nearly 20 minutes RSL struggled to get a chance at a goal until Movsisyan got away from Toronto and charged towards the penalty area. With no one around Moysisyan, except Toronto’s keeper, he simply chipped the ball up and into the corner of the net giving RSL the first goal of the game.

Javier Morales, Moysisyan, and Beckerman had another chance at a goal 13 minutes later but Toronto’s keeper stopped the ball from entering the net.

Nine minutes later Beckerman took a shot from 10 yards out, thanks to teammates Mathis and Morales assisting, to give RSL a 2-0 lead just one minute before the half.

RSL struggled again in the second half searching for opportunities to score, as Toronto was strong enough to keep holding them at 2.

In the 73rd minute Morales was taken down in a tackle giving RSL fans a scare as he was carried off the field on a stretcher. Morales was back on his feet in minutes walking off the small injury to his ankle.

With only 12 minutes to play Mathis right-footed the ball into the corner of the net giving RSL a 3-0 win over Toronto.

RSL will take on Club America on Saturday July 11 at Rio Tinto Stadium and then will go on the road to take on Columbus Crew on Saturday July 18.
