Submit to Touchstones before it’s too late

Reading Time: < 1 minute

All aspiring writers, poets, artists and photographers should hurry and get their work together, because Touchstones, the English department’s literary journal, is calling for all submissions for their fall 2010 issue to be in by Sept. 24.

Submitting work to a literary journal is a good way for students to get recognized for hard work and dedication to a craft. If a piece is chosen, a publication credit looks great on resumes and is also fodder for many bragging rights among friends. It also is a great way to get to know fellow students, as Touchstones holds a release party, called My Word! every semester where those published can mingle with their peers and share their works and stories. This semester’s My Word! will be held on Nov. 30.

The staff is looking for entries in all categories. Aspiring writers may submit poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction. Some options for artists include oil work, computer graphics and pen-and-ink.

Students are allowed to submit as many works as they would like, as long as they fill out a submission form along with their work and put it in an 8.5 inch by 11 inch manila envelope. Forms are available in the English and Literature Department LA 114 or online at http://Research.UVU.edu/Touchstones

Any student interested in submitting work should turn everything in to the English department by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24.
