The UVU Student Association (UVUSA) will be hosting a summer barbecue to encourage student involvement on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 7 p.m. in the Digital Learning Center Courtyard.

In addition to live music and dancing, the food will be catered by Smokehouse BBQ.

“The barbecue is intended to be a welcoming function to get students pumped up for the new school year,” said Kyle Brown, vice president of clubs.

Booths will be set up for each student government committee, so students can learn how they can make the most of their university experience by becoming involved in UVUSA.

“This is our first year as UVUSA and we are having a huge influx of incoming UVUSA committee members,” said Joseph Watkins, student body president. “This barbecue is a way to get more students involved.”

UVUSA encourages students to take advantage of all of the exciting leadership opportunities available, whether it is becoming involved with a club, committee or just supporting campus events.

The UVUSA Summer BBQ is not limited to those interested in participating in Student Government; all current and future students are welcome to attend.

“Invite all of your friends even if they are not interested in UVUSA,” Watkins said.
