The official debut of Utah Valley University will feature big name celebrities for the festivities on June 30.

College Marketing announced the final plans for the event "UVUphoria Grand Celebration," with the scheduled performers for a concert that night including country music stars, Joe Nichols and Colin Raye, along with American Idol contestant Josh Gracin. The concert at the Brent Brown Ballpark will be the culminating event of a day filled with celebration.

K-Bull 93 is sponsoring the concert with tickets for $9.33 for the general public. Student, alumni and employee tickets will be $5.

The Orem Owlz are also playing an early game that afternoon, which will be followed by an open house for students and community members to get their first look at the new library. Tickets for the game will be $5, with package deals for both the game and concert at $10 for students, alumni, and faculty. Tickets for the events can be purchased at the McKay Events Center box office.

South of the McKay events center at Pace Park, the UVU Family Fun Fest will host local vendors, entertainment, food, face painting and booths at 5 p.m., also in commemoration of UVUphoria.

"We are thrilled to share our excitement with the community. This will be an evening that not only celebrates UVSC becoming UVU, but will hopefully be an event that brings our community together in a way that only a new university can," said Val Hale, vice president for the advancement of UVSC and chair of the UVUphoria committee, in a press release.

In the tradition of New Year’s Eve, a countdown to midnight will take place at a dance in the Grande Ballroom for those wanting to count down the seconds to July 1.

Ribbon cutting on the digital learning center will take place the morning of July 1.

The Wasatch Campus will also celebrate this event on June 23.
