Salt Lake City Comic Con is back with their FanXperience convention, which kicked off with a press conference on Thursday, stardate 308708.44745687456.

Doubling the floor space from last September’s convention and expecting 100,000 attendees, it looks as though Dan Farr and his production team now understand the enormity of what they introduced to the Beehive state.

“This year, as we sometimes wonder, can it be better than the original?” Asked Governor Gary Herbert, who was in attendance to officially begin FanXperience. “And the expectations are, in this case, that the sequel will be even bigger and better.”

Herbert, using the one “superpower” he does have, declared April 17, 2014 as “Salt Lake Comic Con Hero’s Day” to recognize the everyday heroes in the community and to urge Utahns to seek opportunities to be heroes themselves.

No other comic con has had the support that SLC Comic Con has experienced, according to Farr who seemed more at ease this time around as he took the stage, announced by Green Ranger Jason David Frank and once again entering on the back of the Jazz Bear’s Harley.

To officially begin the FanXperience, Farr and Herbert were joined on stage by a host of celebrities such as Chandler Riggs of “Walking Dead” fame, Monkee Micky Dolenz, and the Mistress of the Dark, Cassandra Peterson–commonly known as Elvira, who said that so far Salt Lake Comic Con has been first-class, all the way.

“When a drag queen or a dwarf didn’t pick me up at the airport, I knew I’d be well-taken care of,” Peterson said.

With over 40,000 tickets already sold it looks like the Salt Lake Comic Con FanXperience, coming just seven months after the inaugural Salt Lake Comic Con, will be another success in a community ready to geek out all over again.
