Revisiting the women’s basketball season

Chaz Bodily, @chizzle03, Writer The expectations for the women’s basketball team to begin the season were that it would be a young and hungry team that would be competitive in a lot of games, but ultimately they were predicted to finish towards the bottom of their conference in the overall standings.  With Seniors Whitney Jenkins and Kyra Prause, UVU knew it had some veteran leadership on the team. The 2013-14 season was filled with a lot of ups and downs.  Winning two of the first three games was a promising start to the young season, but after an early loss...

Old Towne Grill

Old Towne Grill Blake’s Review: Old Towne Grill is doing some amazing things for the food scene in downtown Provo. You’ve probably seen them at Taste of the Valley where they won first place last year after being open just 11 days. Or perhaps you’ve seen their mobile barbeque trailer at events around UVU and the valley. Their astounding success within this first year is a testament to the changing attitude on food and a local preference all around Utah County, as owner Adam Anastasi would point out. Now, on to the food. For the appetizer we tried the...

WAC coaches tab Wolverines to finish second

Kyle Spencer, Sports Editor, @kyledspencer Adding 10 new players to a roster often translates to the beginning of a strenuous rebuilding process for collegiate coaches. UVU women’s soccer head coach Brent Anderson believes his team can buck the trend despite the fact that it returns only six starters from last season. “I think that we’ve got some great returning players in key positions,” said Anderson. “We’re a fairly young team. I’m not saying it’s a building year, because it’s not, but we are going to be young. I actually kind of like that going into the WAC for the...

A Message From the Student Body President

I’m Jono Andrews and the current Student Body President. I’ve been a wolverine since 2007! While playing lacrosse for UVU I realized how important it is to be involved with this school. Since being elected into this position my team and I have worked diligently to making sure the school year of 2013-2014 will be a fun and exciting time at UVU. Through out the year I hope you will take a second to breath in the hallways and see what fun activities and opportunities there are for you.   While I have been in meetings with Administration I have seen them worry and fight for your experience here at UVU. This school’s motto and current foundation is built off of being engaged. I hope you will take the administrations advice and search for more ways to be engaged. If you do I promise you that you will not regret it. This school allows so much potential of growth for you as a student. I know this because I am currently living it. I took the advice of a former friend and applied myself not only to school but to also having fun at the school.   Our new Student Life and Wellness Building will bring more activities to our campus. Our team and I are working hard to making sure your student fees are being well spent...

Trust me, I’m a senior

By Alex Sousa, Managing Editor, @TwoFistedSousa   When I enrolled at UVU, it wasn’t UVU yet. The national debt was only $8.5 trillion, the iPhone didn’t exist, and “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” had just won an Oscar.   I had a soul patch, I still remembered the name of my first kiss, and I had planned to buy a motorcycle and drive to Santa Cruz where I would live on the beach while I wrote the next great American novel, instead of going to college.   I started here with less than a clue...
