Photo courtesy of Chandler Gubler/UVU Athletics The 2017 UVU outdoor track and field season was full of conference recognitions and record-breaking performances. The Wolverine men and women’s performance was highlighted by senior distance runner Jason Lynch, who qualified for dual events in the 2017 NCAA West Preliminary competition in Austin, Texas. UVU rugby takes down UCLA, hangs with No. 12 Arkansas State

Photo by David Roura When head coach Adam Griffee learned that Arizona State University had been placed on hold from participating in the Penn Mutual Varsity Cup after an on-field altercation, he jumped at the opportunity to get some exposure for his team. He reached out to the university to try and get their shot at UCLA, the team that ASU was scheduled to play in the first round. Ariel Elftman-Hanson: Dreaming of the Masters

It was a disappointing loss for the Wolverines, as they saw all the hard work of the season end in a two-point deficit, with a final score of 26-24. UVU loosehead Jeffrey Mann felt the pain a little more than most of his teammates, as he exited the game earlier than he would have liked with a broken nose, a re-injured knee and a torn tendon in...

Rugby: In-state rival Utah proves to be too much for UVU

Photo by David Roura The UVU rugby team’s Saturday night matchup against the University of Utah was an uneven one. With an inability to capitalize on tackles and more than a few questionable calls by the referee, the frustration was evident from UVU’s coaches and the players. UVU’s winger, Porter Thomas, felt that they could have done a better job following the tempo of the ref during the match. “Whenever you have a ‘bad ref’ we just have to play to the ref and stop doing the things that he tells us not to do,” he said. During the first...
