Reading Time: < 1 minute A war is continuing today led by Joseph Kony, a war leader of the Lord Resistance Army that has continued for 23 years, involving the kidnapping of around 3,000 children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old in Sudan, Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Central African Republic.

On-campus art exhibits mark the year’s end

Reading Time: 2 minutes The Bachelor of Fine Arts shows are the culmination of senior projects for most student artists. The exhibits will be on display in the UVU Library through April. On the 3rd floor we have Susan Purdy’s Rise display paired with Tammy Ballard’s Visual Voice, exhibiting sculptures and paintings synchronized in similar colors through May 2.

Metal scraps-cum-fine art

Reading Time: 2 minutes Visual Voice, an art exhibit by Tammy Ballard, made from chips of aluminum, fragments of barbed wire, dog tags, medical tools, uniform bottoms, bullets, and scraps of metal. The Exhibit will be on display at UVU April 6-May 2 in the Sutherland Archives Gallery, on the third floor of the new library.

Can you make it all night long?

Reading Time: < 1 minute Utah Valley University Clubs is hosting a fundraiser All-Nighter event Jan. 30 in the Student and Activities center from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Proceeds will be given to the various clubs on campus that help to host the event. Kyle Brown,Vice President of UV Clubs, said that the proceeds will be divided by the man hours the different clubs volunteer during the night, so the more people who come, the more money the clubs receive.

Bingo night

Reading Time: 2 minutes UV Mentor Club is hosting a bingo night for family, friends and those interested in becoming a mentor. Mentors are master students who are involved as coaches or mentors in the CLSS 1000 student success classes. They help students to become more connected on campus and more involved in their first year experience.
